Dearest Dad, I often wonder
If you watch me from afar
As I gaze towards the heavens
I search for the brightest star

Sometimes I don't show my feelings
Behind a mask I hide my tears
As I struggle to live without you
Even after all these years

To me, you were an inspiration
You were my shelter from the storm
How I miss your loving presence
And your arms that kept me warm

On more than one occasion
I've cried myself to sleep at night
I pen my thoughts about you
To give others an insight

My writing has been a blessing
And so many friends I've made
'tho the pain won't go away
Within my heart you are inlaid

My life's moved on without you
And my heart still bears the scars
But I take comfort in the knowledge
You are one of the brightest stars

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Sue~
Your beautiful pieces written for your father, always cause tears to well within my eyes~

I know how tough it is to lose someone who meant so much in our lives ... and word-remembering them is a wonderful way to keep those memories soft and pliable ... never forgotten~

Sue,
It's nice to know you are still writing about or should I say to your dad. Peace

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Dear Sue:  I guess our fathers always hold such a special place in our hearts. Mine has been gone many years, as he died young, but I still think about him and miss him, and wonder how he would like the person I've become!

Beautiful poem!

Love

It's like you reached into my heart and mind and pulled out the words I've been trying to lock away. Thanks for showing me that although we may be worlds apart, our feelings are the same.
