My Prize

Sleep just takes hold
a stranger these days
before reintroduction
she cries, she cries.

Cuddle her close
tending to her needs
endless trek around the house

Shriek in my ears
sounds that break my heart
tears start rolling down my cheeks

Tearing out hair
Almost at wits end
Then she gives a little grin
