Angry at the approaching sun
the clouds grumbled a yawning
that yearned for the return of darkness;
shrouded themselves in shades of gray;
and in direct defiance of the light
skulked down to the blacktop
to prey on the careless and
the unsuspecting.

gotta say I normally love the fog, not sure why but I always have, but yesterday morning we came up to an accident just a few minutes after it happened where carelessness and the fog took a life ...sigh...and for some reason the fog seemed sinister and ill intentioned<\i>

Yes, even though it is soft and quiet....there is danger there...in the fog. Enjoyed this short piece very much. hugs, Chris

There are times when I love the fog... welcome its wrap around me, even when it chills... but other times.... eek!

There's a road near my Dad's that can be one of the prettiest drives imaginable... but when the fog rolls in and I'm driving alone at night, my imagination goes into hyperdrive... and I scare the stuffing out of myself. LOL

You paint powerful images with your pen, my friend... this is excellent!

Past the tendrils of grayness
among the swirl and cush of cool
lies always
the unknown
ready to take us...

home.

jellybeans,

  You certainly paint a picture and mood with this.  It is too bad that a life was lost.  Glad you were able to write about what you witnessed.  Writing tends to help me understand what I couldn't otherwise, yet, I can never quite understand Death.  Hoping that your next outting with fog will be a much happier one.

Many a life has been lost on a stretch of road near my home due to a thick fog rolling in and swallowing up everything in its path.

Your poem was a vivid reminder.

Oh what a perfect paradigm for my mood right now....if I were describing how this day has gone for me, I think I'd have come up with at least some of the very same phrases you use so effectively here....

What a unique way to describe fog!
Very sinister....I love it.
