Night and day I creep around this house A home, more like a prison to me Each step so quiet not to wake this monster Heart beats erratically in fear of him Seconds tick like hours to me Tears fall as I try not to wake the dead But as always I end up doing Door slams open Hear comes the shouting As I curl tight into a ball The fear of knowing what comes next Hands grab my neck to break my grip I kick out and like in a rage the fists rain down on me Cursing me, spitting in my face Even saying wish you died at birth That hurts more to me than the beatings I have had all the bruises outside and in Black eyes delivered from the fist of the devil Broken ribs delivered from the elbow of death Even faced a knife as he prepared to stab me Bruised kidneys, and the odd choking On visits to hospital Oh my son fell down the stairs last night You know the words |
