Between the Lines

The Eyes of Me

I walk the lines between the dreams,
a hallway edged in shadows deep.
For there it lays, beneath the sheets
the getaway, tomorrow's sleep.

And if you watch the eyes of me
inside the out, you'll see the lost
of tears that wish the day would bend
and reach to touch, no matter cost.

Holding back, it seems the way,
in words and deeds of no surprise.
The status quo, a moment's doubt
seen through depth of tired eyes.

I'd auction off the good of me,
if only's were the outcome, best.
And save the worst (the little of)
to guide me forth, tomorrow's test.

Life's lessons I am learning hard,
through death and sorrow, loss and more.
Disillusion comes with ease
but knowing love, one can endure.

This I know, for I have drowned
in phobias and thoughts in hide.
I listen now to droplets rain
the patter of, the moistures slide.

Down windows out, on cheeks this side,
Wiping tears these eyes have cried.

M

Beautifully wrought, Maureen...
a warm sadness...from the heart.

I liked this but it did seem like an early morning poem and I would love you to write the evening one

This is beautiful, but sad. Please don't cry. You know where to find me, if you want to.
