Floundering

I can’t turn back my gage or age
Nor change the script of play on stage
But try my best to thwart the force
That tries my ship upon its course

It shreds the mast and tears the sail
The riggings flap the wind in flail
The wheel too heavy for my hold
My strength is gone I’m much too old

The sea has gone from green to grey
My body drips with salty spray
The brine has caked my very rind
And faults my eyes until I’m blind

My veins stand out the swarm of source
So bleak the fighting of this course
Each dip goes further down the wave
Much further and will be my grave

Each brand of vision blots my see
This hands incision what will be?

Cap'n Sy, I think the currents have laid hold. There may be hope for the fleet after all. :-)

Sail the steady course Sy.  Trust your inward compass.  And search out the light air.  Well done.

Ya' know Sy,
All that being said, "You look maaaarvelus Darling!"

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Gadzooks, T-Man!

You don't paint a very good picture of yourself! However, this was a brilliant piece of writing depicting the less glorious aspects of the golden years.

You're as young as you think, my darling man! You may not be able to change the body, but may your mind and spirit be young forever more.

Giving you an especially warm and loving hug from a friend who cares,
Linda

You still look like a pretty cute little flounder to this "Canuck Of The Sea"

Heck I have a new achey, breaky song every morning just getting out of bed these days Sy, comes with wisdom doesn't it I thought?

At least you can be quite assured that you aren't alone in the floundering.  It's always good to be reminded that time passes quickly by.  Good write!
