"A smile happens in a flash,
but the memory of it can last a lifetime"

Today, she would have been sixty-three,
a redhead by choice, tall and slender,
Mother of three sons each so very different,
yet each so much a part of her.

Too tired to find the tears of missing.
Instead each day wondering
if she would be proud of me,
knowing how hard I had been struggling
to remake my life.

Taught me how to be a tower of strength,
when all around me was collapsing,
long before her health began to fail.

I can't visit her today in body,
but fixed upon my mind is her smile
and the thought that there are times
I see her in my mirror...

Those times when her smile becomes mine.

I feel these same feelings about my mom.

Oh Maureen, this really touched my heart. I could
feel how much you are missing your sister.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Sweetie.
Hugs,
Ethel
