where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2005-10-02 05:31 AM

The whispers travel, weightless words
you haven't the strength to let me hear.
There are reasons that your name
etches itself into my memory when you're gone,
I am nothing but a coward.

My reflection tells me
how long I've really lived,
every moment waves across my lips,
my skin athirst and without touch.
I have been such a fool.

You opened me like a flower,
I caressed you untill
you began to breathe,
and I loved you once when
you melted my sky
and I was left with night..

I want to remember you just like this..

I would rather keep you sincere,
all that I've done is create
and destroy you..
I deserve
so much less
than perfect..

The whispers are your demons
silent and quick
painfully flying across the room
merely to harm me with truth..

Knowing
that you once loved me
is enough.

Meg, a very poignant poem, and trust me whomsoever has felt this way through wicked whispers, does remember them "just like that" forever.
to those that still do.

Mehan, you have such a poetic soul that shows through all your writing.  The way you closed the poem says so very much about you.  There is so much honesty in your writing.   ....jo

Exquisite Meghan..
Indeed, to be whispered aloud, this is wonderful.

I missed this.

It sometimes is enough, it sometimes isn't. One of the most terrifying feelings in the world.

If i could eat your words, i would. All day long like a fat bloater.

I would pick one part of this poem that I loved, but it all flowed so well and it was so poignant that I just couldn't pick one part.
It's all amazing.

"My reflection tells me
how long I've really lived,"

I loved those lines which are so deep, as my thinking is that everything we see is a reflection of ourselves in some way.  Great poem, Meg.  I hope 2006 brings good fortune your way!   ....jo

Oh man, you're beating yourself to bits, Meg.

He should be so lucky to have been loved.
