Some people put there faith in money,The almighty dollar they laughingly say.
In their greed or need to have it all, they never realize what they've given away...or what they can never have.
Some people want glory. What will they write upon my stone?
To get a pat on the back, they don't care who gets walked upon.
Then there's some people, people like you and me, crying for what we wish we could change, wishing the blind could see, and wishing we were blind.
Some people can't forgive and forget, some people can't turn the page. Hearts filled with fear not love, hearts filled with rage.
Then there's some people, people like you and me, we've thrown our anger down. They can't incite us to hate no more, there's too much blood on the ground.
Some people look up to Heaven, they pray for a knife to cut someone. If the knife won't cut deep enough, they pray for a gun.
Then there's people, people like you and me, We've finally laid it all down. Now what's it gonna be for people like you and me? Who cry but make no sound.
Will we cry for war? Who can we hate? Will we cry for peace? It may be too late.

Take a butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker, clothe them with purpose, honor, dignity, respect, and give them a rightous cause and you have created a noble and courageous warrior.
He will sacrifice his breath of life, orphan his children, widow his wife, for the greater good. "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends"(Jesus)
Is it not our duty and privilege to insure that those who have loved us so, these noble men and women who are our neighbors and friends. Have indeed made this the greatest sacrifce for the cause to which they were called?
We the poets, the minstrels, always the heart, the conscience, of any society cannot remain silent without grave consequence to ourselves, our nation, the world.
It is up to us to bring healing to our divided nation. To demand an accounting for blood spilled, lives lost, and ruined. To demand nothing less than the truth.

Although the world is full of suffering , it is also full of the over coming of it. Helen Keller

You touched a complex question, dear Steven. Yes, we poets have a responsibility I think.

But will the right people listen? Nonetheless the voice must be sent out, the voice of peace for this tormented world, the voice of love for all of humanity.

I highly appreciate your thought provoking words.

Love,
Margherita

Steven~
Some days are like this ... thanking the Lord of my knowing that all are not~

I do believe that all, not just poets, must work for peaceful encounters in which to clothe our earth~
Ah, but ... we poets do have one-upmanship ... words are mighty and hopefully we will use them to the good of all mankind~

Deep and ponderous thoughts my friend~

Margarita I am but a wee voice but you heard me. Look into the heart of angels what innocence I hear there. Our sacrifice? For what? Let us wait no longer for a hero to lead us but let us look only to God who is love to direct our hearts, our footsteps, our pens. If only He will hear what more could we ask? I cry for peace!
