Stillborn in the bloodied sheets
Of my heart
Afraid to move should I wake his desires

For I could not bear to touch him,
Not again.

I am the living
Dead-skin to all that I had dreamt
In waking hours
Of touch and tender

And I am violently absent
Beside him
As is he to I

He has no raining inkling
no pitter patter nor lightning fork
Across our dark evenings

My anger
A force
Back and forth
In conversation

I wonder how he does not see
His actions
And the links
To my words

He never does,
So I sat under his arm
For hours, so close

thinking

Splashing for deeper water
Kicking for undercurrents
To scrape him away
Off the windscreen of memory

A passing fly,
Another death in me

That will only be recorded as an accident
That spanned
A year
Or so

A sentence
From another life
I suspect

and
After all he has named me

I am alive

From the shoulders up
I am cunning, again
And I disrobe
Only for another in mind

From the shoulders up.

Damned ladies of Orpheus
Your arias cause a stir in my sad
Sad and lonely heart

The sense of loss, longing and lost hope shines like a beacon from these words.  Magnificent job!

Gemdrop! You're back! Gosh this aches. You have an incredible amount of talent! You blow me away with every single piece of poetry of yours that I have read.

Sounds as tho' you have been going through an emotionally difficult time. Keep your eyes on the skies and forget the crap that drains your loving energy.

Loving hugs,
Linda

"And I am violently absent
Beside him"

My favorite line...but there were so many that blew me away...

but that is nothing new..

Gemma~

Little gem of a poet ...

'Splashing for deeper water
Kicking for undercurrents
To scrape him away
Off the windscreen of memory'

... you splashed some of my memory-ink with this thought~

Wonderful penning, dear poetess~

You touched so close to my own thoughts here Gemma Jo, that it brought me back to those very moments when I was honest with myself.
