They've leveled the cornfields;
all but a graveyard of stalks
that stand in their withering caskets,

weep not for the fallen ones;

something dies
and something will be born again,

as blackbirds peck at the sinking shadows,
the profundity and absurdity
flow with sublime symettry
from the pen of the poet.

I thought of all the fallen trees in LA and TX when I read this.  Your poem is lovely and reassuring.   ....jo

I too thought of all the unrest in the world at the moment, and amazing how something rises so quickly from dust.  Great write Michelle.

Your eyes behold the vastness and complexity of existence and your pen renders your emotions with profound mastery.

Love and hugs.
