Once a garden full of growth
Colors abounded from dull to bright
A flower to be found of all types

Now wind burned trees torn apart
Salted soil is the new earth
Broken bushes as far as the eye can see

Yet a month has passed and new growth has begun
A red rose budding anew
Pushing and blooming showing its resolve is true

I am in awe of your positive attitude, your resiliency so soon after Katrina's departure!
Thomas, I think the people of Biloxi and the surrounding towns are incredibly lucky to have you on their team.
And this internet poetry site is indeed equally lucky to have you as a member.
It's not easy to find the blooming rose amongst all those thorns, yet that is what you found and offered us.
It's an honor just to say I know you a tiny bit, from your heartfelt postings here.

Thank you dear Thomas for this precious gift of trust in the future. Beyond all the destruction your eyes long to see beauty and find it.

Beautiful and uplifting.

Love and hugs.

And you Dear Tom, are a rose yourself. Flowers

How beautiful! ~ The rose is the promise of renewal and better times to come. The contrast of it and what lay around it was deftly scribed and very effective.

I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see that you are posting your poetry again. Your poems give vivid and personal perspectives to the havoc caused by Katrina. They are extremely moving.

Sending you a great, big, comforting hug,
Linda
