Flower faces,
Tatterdemalioned-stand
Where they took last stance,
Against the blast.

Death stiff, dressed,
Gray ash, the battle lost-
Aftermath, a Nagasaki street
The war over for these

X-ray-cartoon, skeleton-
Drooping, figurines
With drawn through X's
Burnt off faces,
With crossed out eyes.

Yet, in spite of bomb-frost:

Besides the smoking  corpses
Blue-alive, New England asters
Bright eyed red, and yellow mums;

Survivors of the holocaust.

excellent depiction of a horrible event...this certainly took my mood to the saddness of it all...some try to say, this didn't actually happen?  Go figure, huh...

Have a great day...

Thank You LeeJ
This  poem, in actuality is about the first heavy frost of the season, that we have not yet got...but I know is coming...

In preperation for the event, I have placed asters and mums between the soon to be dead, summer flowers...

On my own reviewing, without changing the intent of metaphor much, I see how easily it can be aligned with the "real" holocaust event.

An unintentional thing, but these things, this poetry, has a mind of its own and can morph as they feel urge to do so...like a life form turning into another life form...

I find flowers so much like people, the gentle are first to fall, leaving those strong marigolds, and asters every time   Nice write Ford, and don't wish that frost on us too soon now will you.

After reading your explanation, I now appreciate what you have written even more.

The iceman cometh, but I hope he isn't in a hurry! lol
