At Trail's End
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

In mares of night, in aimless wander,
Down unlit roads, I’m deep in ponder,
Knowing not which road to travel,
As my life is in unravel.

I wend my way through dead of night,
My tortured soul cannot take flight.
A leaden weight pulls me down,
In to dark waters where I’ll drown.

I wake with gasp upon my lips,
Down slippery rocks my footing slips.
With every ounce within my being,
I rise from depths with eyes now seeing.

It matters not what be my trials,
~ I'm walking tall, my measured miles.
Knowing that at trail's end,
Heaven's Light shines 'round the bend.

Angel-hearted One ~

Hi, Laura! Usually I write a poem and then I go treasure hunting on the net for a painting to complement it. It is a bit of a thrill for me when I can team up a pic with my poem!

I'm pleased that you appreciated the outcome!

Hi, Eric!

A "wonderful" from someone who writes so wonderfully, is "wonderful" indeed!

The night can be heavy, every problem blows up if sleep won't come ... but at the end of the tunnel there is always a new dawn bringing  new hope and you speak of this light so very beautifully, dear Linda.

The end effect is deeply comforting!

Love and hugs.

Margherita ~

I'm not much a drinker, but this summer I had three memorable margaritas and every time I see your name I am reminded of them! lol Margarita  Margarita  Margarita Ole!

I enjoyed reading your full-of-thought reply. You are full of warmth, wisdom and insight.

Hugs with lotsa love!

Steven ~

I like adding a light, up-lifting ending to my heavy poems. Mind you, I just wrote a downer of a poem ~ right to the end.

I have a tendency to not only write what I feel, but I also feel what I write! I suppose I should now write something cheerful so that I don't get my own self down with my writing!
