The dream was of thunder,
shooting stars, big brass bands,
and magic with a smile
from a handsome man
in the wait for womanhood.

Praise me, oh, praise me,
but no fanfare for a rose
in summer blossoming
and an emergent butterfly
like the air simply there
to flutter through the years
unheralded.

Praise me, oh, praise me,
but your silence my salute
in the disregard and turn away
from a mystical infusion
of promises.

Praise me, oh, praise me,
this girl turned woman overnight,
ethereal, majestic,
in the sky of love’s desire …
and then let there be peace.

Who could ask for more?

Thanks Martie ad Bodger.  And Martie - we ask, right? but how many ever receive and certainly that thing called "peace" remains always out of reach.
