The stars all said we’re yours tonight, so I looked and I saw
A vastness I could not compare to what I’d seen before
It was somehow overwhelming and it made me feel so small
The view was something special that for years I will recall

It made me feel so little, so minute to what was there
While all that I could really do was look at it and stare
And wonder of the vastness that in time I’ll never see
But through imaginations eye and thinking of to be

I looked at all the shinning stars; the watchers of the night
Showing way to folk like me who ponder life and right
To twinkle as to somehow be the jewel I’d love to touch
Amazing how things far away attract you all so much

They somehow give us messages that yet we cannot read
A picture code of master plan that one day we will need
And though I stare with patience the secret I can’t see
For it must not yet be the time, to see what is to be

So though the stars are mine tonight, all I do is stare
In wonderment, in silent awe, of all that lies out there
And I feel enchanted while I share way up above
Toward where I am praying and where lives eternal love

Awesome Rick! I remember a similar night from the Grand Canyon many years ago. Thanks for the reminder. Peace and harmony flows from your pen. Enjoyed immensely!

This write really touched me Rick..
We are indeed so small compared to all the wonders of the universe.
Some of which we have not even imagined.
This brought tears...
tears of grateful appreciation for all He has given us.

Heart hugs go out to you tonight~Nancy

I well remember the night I first saw the stars.  It takes something special to make us really see them and your poem tells of the thoughts and emotions in exact detail.  Very much enjoyed!

Rick, that's lovely.  I remember the sense of awe I felt as a youngster, looking up at the night sky.  This poem helped me recapture that feeling. Thank you.
