This is made of sense This is the end of flavour The end of endless spite Contradiction in a nose dive It’s hard to pull it back. This is the feel of faithless malice Resting on the floor The deadened dawn of consequence Cold and stiff to touch This doesn’t have to rhyme Or even make much sense It’s thought committed to the paper Such as that can be Pain is in the garden Invited in for drinks I’ll join them for laudanum All for psyche’s sake I’ll kill for a penny just for the fun I’m doing what I shouldn’t I’ve only just begun To see what I could have done This is the start of warfare Waged inside my head The reds are utterly routed The blue’s are in retreat These are the things I think As I sit in my mind alone The tattered banners flying The battle so long ago My chessboard, chequered scalp I thought on many levels And on the surface best Shallow interception, myriad belief. This has made no sense "And the sun went down, and the stars came out far over the summer sea, |
