When shadows fall across my heart,
when all I feel is pain.
When all my friends seem far away,
when I'm crying in the rain.

When I forget I'm not alone.
When my burdens seem too much to bear.
When passion's flame die's within my breast,
and I have not the strength to care.

Lift up my head Great Spirit I pray,
fill my heart with fire once more.
Wipe these pitiful tears away,
let my spirit soar.

Give me words to inspire someone,
to carry on the fight.
Never let us surrender,
to the darkness of the night.

Welcome, Steven, to your new home away from home!

This inspirational poem is very appealing to this "angel"!

You have made a fine debut with this write! You truly have!

"Lift up my head Great Spirit I pray,
fill my heart with fire once more.
Wipe these pitiful tears away,
let my spirit soar."

~ A good reminder for all of us!

"Give me words to inspire someone,
to carry on the fight.
Never let us surrender,
to the darkness of the night."

~ Dear Steven, you most assuredly have been given the words!

It's been a while since I considered a birthday a day to celebrate. Another ache or pain a line a pound a wrinkle. Birthdays after a while have a way of reminding us of our fragile human condition. And I guess that's the way it should be. Somehow though that just doesn't make me want to dance like it used to. :-)

This b-day is special though because it marks a day of discovery. A day I found a community of people who for the most part I think still believe they can change the world...one line one poem at a time. I am elated to find your words have stoked the fires of my own passion. It will be my greatest pleasure to somehow return the kindness.

Peace

I'm overwhelmed by the response to When Shadow's Fall. Sometimes an encouraging word is the feather that tips the scale.

I think a single word spoken in kindness often has the magnificent power to change someone's direction, lift up their head, open their eyes, or renew their hope. I have reaped all these things from you're kind replys. Thank you all so much.

I continue to be amazed and humbled by the response of so many wonderful poets and poetess's.

Even though my friends you may be far away. You have strengthened me beyond measure.
You have reminded me nothing is more important that love and truth. May those fires burn brightly in each of your hearts forever.

StevenS,
And at such a heavy price is our wisdom. I firmly believe, that "grief without growth is pain wihtout purpose". I am deeply sorry for your loss and grately blessed by your growth. Welcome and may you be prolific in here for a long, long time. May you continue to find peace, hope and strength.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ahhhh, you will not give in if only for the simple reason that you say you will not. "Just keep swimming." And you will be fine. Nice write.
