there is understanding right now
of all the things my soul has undertaken.
Although the faces I have known
warp themselves in my dreams
I can still understand the messages
in their thoughts
that move
beyond their tongues and lips.
Occasionally
a haze overtakes part of my joy.
It sets up residence indefinetely
an unwelcome blanket
that smothers me.
These days
my flow is forced.
I am standing behind a river of words
looking ahead at an impossible damn
but still shoving
hoping that my pen is bigger
and stronger
than this lethargy and dispair.

OMG, Jenn, but I hope that you are OK? I didn't realize until now where you lived. The horror of these past few days...
Glad to see this post, knowing that means...you are a Katrina survivor.

Your pen is stronger than you know.
As are you.
Best wishes and much love

Oh, but it most certainly is...your expression of the flow of words,  the lethargy...

I relate well to these.

Thanks so much for your time with this poem, everyone. I haven't written much in the past few years, and sometimes it seems hopeless.

Love you all
Its so good to be back for a while
