When Trust Is Gone

~ Linda L. Dowd ~

A single leaf, in listless spiral,
carries my dreams to rest softly
upon the forest floor.
Broken are the charmed promises
that he could not keep.
Gone is the trust that has
turned our love to dust.

As I lean against the ancient oak,
with trunk so deeply rooted,
I feel its strength
feeding my weary soul.
Tho’ balmy nights of loving
have grown cold ~ there are joys,
yet to be experienced,
in future offerings.

in wind
to float

Oh, I feel the heartache of this one, dear friend.  But, I am really glad for the last three lines for that is the way of it.  Love you, Earth Angel.........lily jo

(big angel hugs) Awwwwww, this is bittersweet but beautiful, sweet friend, this made me tear up a bit because it reminded me of my internet sweetheart Joanna, and then what was once a deep friendship all fell apart, and now I wait for spring to come back and offer me a love that's destined to bloom! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is most beautifully heartfelt, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

You begin with such an image of sadness... and end suffused with hope... and write beauty in every word... Excellent work!

AW, shuckums, Mr. T. ~

I feel the same way about you and your poetry. Mind you, you have "arch" in front of "angel"! ~ and you have mastered the fine art of writing sonnets!
