Casey is my kitty cat
Has been since I was 12
Now I am 26
And he is still mine
To hold and hug

He gives me kitty kisses
Sometimes he plays too rough
I got the scars to prove that one
He used to sleep with me
And lay out across my chest

But now in his old age
He can barely jump on a bed
Or make it to a litter box
Just to pee
For he has early renal failure
Its sad you see

Recently Casey has gotten worse
His kidney function is up to 59
That is not good for kitties
For that means
Their kidnies have worsened

So they gave Casey fluids
Under his skin
On Thursday and Friday
And on Monday we go back
To test his kidney function again

If Casey's kidney function is still high
We are going to put him down
In my mind
That would be the best thing
To do for him now

For I do not want
To see him suffer or in pain
I want him to rest
And never be in pain again

But the other half of me
Hopes his kidney functions
Have gone down
For he
In my mind
Is still my Casey the Kitty Cat
