(As we continue to recover in the aftermath of the natural disaster Katrina, I've found the most heartbreaking thing of all are seeing the footage and pictures of mothers and fathers who either lost a child, or their child is missing and are still heartachingly anxious to hear back from a missing child!

I wrote this power ballad in trying to comprehend and understand these deepest, most intense feelings, as well as bringing to light the serious issues that face families and the children that MUST be addressed on a national level that have been taken for granted for way too long; poverty and the basic qualities of life in America.

God Bless America, God Bless all the families struggling through this natural disaster, and God Bless the children! )

Children Of The Disappeared
By: Noah Eaton
9/10/05

A mother struggled against the water current,
she swears she can feel their heartbeats under her feet,
I can taste their tears in this relentless rain,
in the thunder you can hear their mercy.
To feel a grieving mother trying to seek closure,
is truly the most heartbreaking feeling of all,
stranded between hope and poverty,
WAITING TO HEAR HER CHILDREN CALL.

SHE HEARD THEM SCREAM,
SHE KNOWS THEY STILL HAVE THEIR WINGS,
can you show me your roots just one more time,
just so I know you remember how to get home to me,
children of the disappeared...

Through parenthood a father loses his mind but finds his soul,
in this sweet and sour humility, you can feel his heart ache,
poverty may be the discoverer of much great art,
but he just doesn’t feel like painting just yet today,
cause children’s blood is thicker than love,
he knows, he held a daughter in his lap gently,
have we forgotten living from hand to mouth,
HAS HUMANITY FORGOTTEN ITS TRUE MEANING?

HE HEARD THEM SCREAM,
HE KNOWS THEY STILL HAVE THEIR WINGS,
can you show me your roots just one more time,
just so I know you remember how to get home to me?
HE HEARD THEM SCREAM,
HE KNOWS THEY STILL HAVE THEIR WINGS,
can you show me your roots just one more time,
just so I know you remember how to get home to me?
children of the disappeared...

VIRTUE WILL KEEP ME WARM...

…but these children are our most valuable natural resource...

VIRTUE WILL KEEP ME WARM...

…it just aches to see these trees I’ve planted,
without seeing you sitting in the shade,
sitting in the shade...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The tree of life has become my church,
the lingering storm has become my roof,
committing myself to live through His poverty,
believing through Him I can find my way back to you.
I’ve found there was no need that Christ should’ve been poor,
except for our sakes,
so low as He went, so high will we rise,
EVEN IF THIS HEART A THOUSAND TIMES MUST BREAK!

I HEAR THEM SCREAM,
KNOWING THEY STILL HAVE THEIR WINGS,
can you show me your roots just one more time,
just so I know you remember how to get home to me?
I HEAR THEM SCREAM,
KNOWING THEY STILL HAVE THEIR WINGS,
can you show me your roots just one more time,
just so I know you remember how to get home to me?
I HEAR THEM SCREAM,
I CAN STILL HEAR THEM SING TO ME,
their tears filling these streams and ravines,
I still recognize their heartbeats,
children of the disappeared...

children of the disappeared...

children of the disappeared...

Noah, your empassioned words and the powerful images washed over me like a tsunami. I was swept away by the current of your raw and emotive writing.

It has all been so tragic.

Love & Light,
Linda
