Artist: Claude Monet

Our Summer's End

~ Linda L. Dowd ~

‘Tis our summer’s end and I lie weeping
beneath soughing willows.
From the depths of mine sorrow,
escape sad sighs of one forsaken.
This heart, twice broken, cannot see
what mine eyes cannot,
For with each passing day, a new veil
impedes mine loving vision.

We are both attuned to the soft melancholy of these days, my dear friend Linda!

This is so touching and ... charming!

Love and hugs.

Had never thought of Monet's way of seeing things like this....actually makes much sense.  I hope these are not feelings you are afflicted with, dear one.  Your words are very expressive.  *buckets of hugs*....lily jo

Hi, jo! I must admit, that I have been experiencing an undercurrent of melancholia ever since Katrina performed her heinous acts. It is but a blink away. If I were actually going through what those who were directly affected, my poetry (if I were still able to write poetry!!!) would be downright maudlin!

Love you!

Hi, scorpio!

You are so kind! But, I enjoy the change of seasons and do not despair them. Mind you I am experiencing a sense of that because all the recent events in the South.

Actually, with this poem I was trying to tie in the waning of a romance (thankfully not mine!) with the waning of the summer.

Thanks for dropping by! It was good to hear from you!

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, this is a sad feeling that my heart knows all too well, dearest friend! (sigh) September has always been the saddest month to me because it was the  month so much tragedy in the past happened in, and with 9/11 and other things happening in this month, it has only continued to be the month that usually makes me feel most sentimental! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Hi, Noah! I just heard you on KBOO Radio pitching for its fundraiser! You sounded terrific!

My goodness, you have been busy on so many fronts ~ including reading my poetry! What a pleasant surprise, my angel friend!

Although September is a beautiful month, it has always proved to be excepionally trying for me. It truly is amazing how I ever survive the month! Even a few hours after 9/11 I had a bad fall and was in therapy 3x a week for 2 1/2 years. ~ and wore a back and knee brace to boot! The list goes on and on but never have I suffered to the extent of those who were affected by 9/11 and Katrina.

It was really good to hear from you!

Hugs with mucho luvvo!

Hi, Chris! I wrote the poem and then I scoured the net for a painting to accompany it. I truly appreciate the gift that he had.
