Within A Quiet Heart A Hurricane

I find within my quiet heart,
Compassion laying there.
An emptiness, a constant ache,
In knowing life’s not fair.

I am no different in any way
To each and every one of you,
All sitting just as far away
Wondering what on earth to do?

To give someone a helping hand
Share a smile, or pleasantry,
Means so much to the recipient,
At no cost to you or me.

It takes a disaster such as this,
To shake us to our very heart.
It hardly matters who did what,
They simply need a brand new start.

I still wonder why things happen,
Such as this Gulf Coast disaster.
If it's a wake up call from Mother Nature
To slow down, and not to go faster?

Perhaps a way to bring us together,
All races, colors, and creeds?
Embrace each one in brother or sisterhood,
Live in harmony, and do good deeds?

I like to think that was the intention,
And not all has been in vane.
United, we will all live to see,
The Gulf Coast standing proud again.

With love to my Cajun Cawene

Carpe'Diem

Sure hope so, Sharon!  Sometimes Divine Inspiration moves in mysterious ways (no pun on your name intended....although that works, too...lol).  Some things will remain, some things will change.  (And yes....some things need to change!)   ....jo

May we awaken to Love! To achieve our mission down here.

This Earth has many wounds, may we be aware of this also in "normal" times and act accordingly.

This beautifully written poem shows your generous compassionate heart, dear Sharon.

Love and light.

Thank you everyone.  Boy have I done a major clean up and give away at home here.  This disaster has sure taught me the difference between need and want.  I think I am so lucky and I am so thankful.

You are right, life is not fair but then it gives those wishing to help even out that scale a chance to meet other folks - bonus!

I have mixed feelings on this whole thing - glad us, sorry for those it happened to, and wanting my friends back home where they belong, etc. .  I don't care for the way they degraded the head of FEMA though, even if he didn't do a good job this time, he has a good record in the past.  Feel so sorry for the folks on the Gulf Coast, and now I have added the "bad guy" to that list too, as I don't think one soul realized the davastation that this hurricane was bringing, honestly I don't.  Oh sorry, rattling away

Thank you one and all, and I want my friends all to go back home.
