Brew was good in the morning didn't touch a drop
Of water
It made you more than hop

Up at 5.30 ready for the shift drop of beer got you ready for the pit

Always heaving coal everywhere we could
No one came near us

Until they felt they could

Dressed us in uniforms
To see us in the dark

How many miles under this
And looking

Stark not starch not human

Lit by whatever

We hew the coal

That you burn for pleasure

For us

Our very soul

I understand what you are saying here yet for me I am reminded of the bud plant less than 10 mins. from my house....and how it always smells of potatoes.

  I am weird like that.

I suppose in a way I was trying to make people think that we dont use poeple as slaves

Always from the Company Shop

It was aimed as necessity and no-one thinks about it

And life as it happens

Thanks

When I hit these writing moods

I am usually thrown off the site

Can you do a holding pen

ive known those in coal mines
my ex's died  black lung
my dad worked for johns manville
he was in mines till the plant in valley~
hes dying now from lung disease,
gold mines, silver mines, diamonds i believe are an end result of coal. so it was used for more than warming ones pleasure.
slave, oh yea,   plantations,(black) stone fences,(chinese) (irish) making a canal or something wider ,the list goes on and on  slave trade act before and after.  and still sadly  around.  good day to ya D
nice to see who sees what i am checking out these days.  have a good one. nothing against you~

My spirit will rise
above the sea~
There will be no drowning
of my soul or me~

This reminds me of the coal mines my Dad spoke of in Pennsylvania when he was young. Well written this was.
