                 Disaster

I hate you a little, love you a little
and you might be gone
but you are still a part of me

rubble, dreams lost, fall to rubble
I held you in secret
maybe all I held was a dream
something so unobtainable
honestly, I wish I could forget
for knowing you has left me
more than just a little weak
pretending I was the solid one
(could you not see how fragile)
I was shaken- you did that to me
I spoke in uncensored compromise
pieces now spread from here to there
and if I wasn’t the one, why oh why
why did you keep coming back for more
building me up on hope
where possibility was all I held

I am weary from a winded path
stringing words I thought
would bring you here to me
and today tree tops tickle the sky
and birds still float above
grounded I wonder if you still fly
I had ridden out a storm with you
how safe I was with you by me
the fine spray under the bridge
could never bring one moment of fear
for you can’t be lost
when you can touch your true north

you never even said you loved me
yet, you had ask me if I loved you
I said no, but you knew better
I should have said yes but
your words were needful things
now everything is gone
destroyed, truth is …
it is the little things that break you

I have gone on and
I am on a leveled field now
and the beach now finds me
counting every grain of sand
on tear drops hidden in the rain
lost
and the again calm wind for me
just sings your name
carried on notes
echoing an aching heart
trying just to get back north
and letting go
might
rescue me

just some words cut out
from the diary of my heart

I loved this write, especially this line...it's a heartbeat that is heard loud and clear. Hugs to you, Helen. Hope all is well with you.

AND THANK YOU so much for calling Thomas and letting him know we are concerned and are here for him. I cannot imagine what he is going through right now. Did he say whether or not he was one of the many officers who has lost a home?
