I made egg salad today,
for a snack,
it was easy,
I have always had a knack with food;
I had the eggs,
extra eggs,
so many eggs that they could spoil,
so I put a bunch  on to boil
slowly
because I always keep them cold,
then I played a PC game,
listened to some favorite tunes,
opened up a nice cold imported beer;
when the eggs were done
I peeled every one in cold clean water,
by turning on the tap,
put the shells in compost
because I am certainly a friend
to the most kind and gentle Mother.

See,
there is no real hardship here,
no other problems here today
other than the choice of herbs
to flavor lightly my nice snack;
I am comfortable,
I have some pains but I get by,
always there are dreams
and memories that never go away
but when it rains my streets drain dry,
and as long as I don’t read
or watch TV,
or think a lot,
I don’t even cry.

I know!     Got any of that egg salad left, or an imported beer??

This is wonderful. I felt the same way this morning as I was spreading thick the peanut butter on my toast, cup of tea steaming beside my folded napkin. I realized..wow...how simple...but how blessed I am. Hugs, Chrislane

When I get to feeling defeated or depressed, all I have to do is count my egg salad!  *hugging you, Mr. C*.......jo

Well, icebox, I sure do like everything this poem says.  Egg salad, yes, focus on the simple things because the big things are too overwhelming.

How true..how very true.
Thank God for simple pleasures.
Well said Sir.

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

Nodding through tears here, as I boiled some eggs yesterday, had hot coffee, and a bed of my own to sleep in last night. I felt guilty for a few minutes, but realized that if guilt should paralyze me from taking action, more people will suffer if I sit home with the blues.
So, its back to the local charity shops today, to gather more supplies for needy families.
