Through The Refrains

Copyright 2005 by:  Mark V Sheldon

It’s a crack in my reality today
This fracture of a memory
A fissure whose depth
Slips me into itself again
One thought at a time
A word whose meaning is
Lost together with its being

A crevice into another world
Still vivid -- and vividly still
Darkness taken aback
By the light of my insight
A solitary candle whose flame
Still reaches for a taste of air
Beyond the split and spackle

Like spit on spectacles
Hindsight is more like 23/29
With six being one
Shy of the magic number
If luck had its way
But then, who remembers
Second place anyway?

So now it’s a journey
To the center of the birth
How quickly life moves on
A simple dimensional shift
Another frequency dialed
And a hard beat breaks in
Too through the refrains

I really enjoyed this. The flow was just so lovely, and the words speak volumes. Thanks for sharing.

would rather be in second place, 3rd, 4th or 100th...cuz when it comes down to it...whatever happens, always turns out to be the best thing...experience is the best teacher, and those dimensions you speak of...are definately alive...hugs to ya

Loved this read, excellent ponder

Thanks, Sy...  I flow where the thoughts take me...

LoveBug:  Thank you for your kind words and thoughts -- I'm glad you found it enjoyable.  I guess LeeJ is right:  "whatever happens, always turns out to be the best thing"...

Hi Martie.  Thank you for the read and notice.

Dixie:

LeeJ:  Indeed, indeed...  It's just that sometimes it's time which makes one aware of the long-term benefits, thought the short term ones tend to linger in another form called memory...  Thank you kindly for your supportive words.

Mark, I do believe you went over your 20 word limit! ~ and brilliantly so!

"So now it’s a journey
To the center of the birth
How quickly life moves on
A simple dimensional shift
Another frequency dialed
And a hard beat breaks in
Too through the refrains"

~ Your closing stanza speaks profound truths.

May 2006 be a joyful one!

Dominique-Simone, I thank you, kindly.

Linda:  A most joyful New Year to you as well.  Every once in a while, emotions and expressions call for more than 20 words can say...  I'm glad you enjoyed.

Thanks to the one who resurrected this.
I had missed it the FIRST time, Mark.
But there you go...proof that seconds or thirds is still a winner.
Hoping any new year's cracks don't become sinkholes.
~lots of work to do again this year, reality contrails and all~

Wow, what a shift. I've feel as if I've been time warped back to 1984. Powerful write you have here.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Hiya, Kacy.  I suppose when things are ready, they surface...  Glad this one found you.  A very positive New Year to you as well, my friend -- one with clear skies, clean air, and honest leadership.

Hi Barry:  Indeed, there lurks a real individual behind the TOL's, and every so often gets to channel inspiration in a few more words...  May this year find you healthy, peaceful, and content.

Hey Kethry:  1984, eh?  Interesting on many angles...  It's only a change in that I haven't found the time or inspiration to be verbose very often, but I welcome the times that I can...  Thanks for the read and thoughts, and an excellent New Year to you.

Hi Jo:  The change is only relative to the context, and of late, you're right -- they've been short, but every so often, I return back to the styles prior to my TOL's...  I'm pleased you found it enjoyable.  May this New Year fulfill your hopes and desires...

Scorpio:  I'm not quite sure I follow you...  I try not to follow any path other than my own (when possible)...  But thank you for the read and reply.  A New Year filled with inspiration to you...

I enjoyed your writing and the thought that went into it.  You really got me thinking with this coin of phrase:

A simple dimensional shift
Another frequency dialed

Great metaphor!

Hi miscellanea:  Thank you for the read and reply.  One of the highest compliments I can receive is that I have inspired a reader to think.  Goal accomplished!
