Echoing steps on
pollished wooden floors.
Gymnopedie no1 playing,
rising into corners
of the sparsely
decorated room, dolourus.
He stood looking
at beauty without,
mind elsewhere, somewhere.
Crack! Stumbling backward,
abruptly returned from
the mesmeric slow
spell, from the piano.
Falling down the
cracked glass pane,
a Bronzed Cowbird.
Watching it on
the ground, dying;
smeared scarlet running
in rich rivultes,
he observed life
ebbing away from
the stricken bird.
Rushing from nowhere,
the Coyote, wolfed
the birds warm
body, with ease.
Rain fell, washing
blood from the
pane, apathetically he
turned away, lost
once again within
Satie's sweet spell.
Standing with flames
warming his legs,
cradling the bulb
of his brandy
glass in his
hands, black liquid
invaded his mind.
Outside, God's rain
fell slowly silent.

Desire for nothing except desirelessness, hope for nothing except to rise above all hopes, want nothing and you will have everything.avatar Meher Baba.

You paint a pretty bleak picture this morning! Alas, it is but a reflection of the darker side of nature ~ "survival of the fittest".

This was beautifully written, albeit disturbing and sad. Crying 1

your title perfectly fits the write
*shudder* nice characterization, a fine look at the face of apathy and indifference

I just came back for another read and I have a better understanding ~ and more appreciation! ~ of this fine piece of metaphorical poetry! You'd make the Greeks proud!

Now where was Juliet when this happened?  Shouldn't she have been lying in a "grave" playing dead.  I totally feel this one.  Right on.
