Raining Tears
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

The sky has fallen and waters rise,
As hopes sink with the land.
No man should be an island,
So around each, let us stand.

Arms reach out for loved ones,
But no longer are they there.
With loss of home and family,
Lone hearts fill with despair.

Death and blind destruction,
Came to those in her path.
New horrors come to light each day,
In Katrina's aftermath.

There is no consolation,
That could wipe away such pain.
For those who lost everything,
Sad tears fall down like rain.

WOW...this was beautiful, Linda!  I have been trying to put this into words, but I think you beat me to the punch.

Praying for all those affected...directly and indirectly.  May God bless you all!!

And God bless you, Linda...for sharing your thoughts and heart!

SweetestEarthyOne~
Such a heartfelt penning of emotions affecting us all as each new tragedy comes across the television screen~

Our prayers are ongoing for all those who have lost so much ... and need so much~

Some of the 'good feel' stories lift us for just a moment ... then the helplessness seeps back in~

These are life-changing times ... and prayerful we hope for the best for all left in the wake~

Thank you, dear poetess~

Linda Angel, I sat and watched the MSNBC fundraiser tonight....cried the whole time.  There is no consolation.  But, we can expect a lot of eyes to open about the needs of their fellow man...at least I pray.  I read somewhere today that it takes disasters/catastrophe (can't remember the exact word) to cause necessary change....it is just so hard to see innocent babies suffer, not to mention the rest of it.  I am feeling the rain.  Love you girlfriend........lilyjo

Dixie, why does it take a catastrophe to bring us all together? But this coming together at such a time does give me hope for the future of mankind...

Oh, lily jo, I am so sick at heart that I almost feel immobilized, but immobilization is definitely not what is needed right now. Busy hands and loving hearts are what are in order ~ and you, my dear friend, are one who is helping to fill the bill, so to speak.

slide off

Linda, even the worst tragedies can't bring some people together, no matter what...some folks just have too much bitterness and hatred...too bad

but for most, yes, there is light

Yes, there are those who become "bitter" but overall I do believe that it is the Light of humanity that prevails.

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, this is such a tragedy indeed for so many, and it just breaks my heart to only begin to envision how the tens of thousands are coping with their losses and poverty! (wipes tear) The most heartbreaking image to me is one weeping over the loss of a child and struggling to find closure in the aftermath! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, and may we continue to send angel healing hugs to all the families affected by this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Noah, indeed, we must continue to send "angel healing hugs" ~ and money, and food, and prayers, and clothes, and supplies, and helping hands ~ as you well know, my dear philanthropist friend!

I am amazed by the spirit of our southern friends! God bless each and every one of them. They will rise again like the proverbial phoenix!

Linda...You have captured the feelings of so many people affected by this disaster with your tender touch. Your words really put the HUMAN in Human Feelings.

My two oldest children and their families lost everything they had except their hope and will too survive to Katrina...Paul

Paul, words fail me ~ at least the one's that I wish I could find.  I am so saddened by the news that two of your children and their families lost everything to Katrina. But it appears that they have their father's spirit and will rise undaunted above the horror of it all.

I am thankful that your family survived nature's holocaust and pray that they will soon have peace of mind and order returned to their lives.

I would like to thank you for your thoughtful reply and for taking the time to read my poem at such a difficult time for you.

Love, Light, and healing hugs,
Linda

Angel-hearted One ~

The toll that Katrina has taken breaks my heart as it does yours, dear compassionate one. The horror of it all boggles the mind and pains the soul.
