The Katrina Holocaust
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Broken, twisted, and swept away,
Lives and limbs are lost in fray.
The raging winds and pelting rain,
~the surge and fury of the hurricane,
Are forces stronger than those of Man,
As waters flood the southern land.

I pray for those who’ve lost it all,
~Who wander aimless in spiraled fall.
May all those spared, lend helping hands,
To southern friends on sinking sands,
That they might build what they have lost,
In this Katrina holocaust.

Linda, gut wrenching photo's and stories from the Gulf Coast. I can barely watch the images without breaking down in tears.

May God have mercy on them all.

Hugs and thanks for your poem.  Marti

Lee ~

I am emotionally drained from what I have seen and heard on the news...and I am just watching the heinous events! I'm not living them!

Linda, you've said so much so very well.  The devestation, plus a call to all able  helpers and keeping them all in prayer.  It tears at one's heart, especially when you're not sure how to help.  Thank you, dear lady.

I was a wee bit worried about you for a while there! I'm relieved that  you and yours are safe and sound.

I know that your hands are connected to your heart and they will know what they can do to help those who were less fortunate.

Hugs with love,
Linda

Startime ~

Just using the word "Katrina" adds power to the poem. I am so overwhelmed and overwrought by all that I am seeing and hearing. My heart goes out to all those who continue to live this nightmare.

Thanks for dropping by.

Linda....yes, there was some concern that Misc'e and my Mother would be caught up in tornados, flooding and the like as they live in Southwestern Ohio, the path they projected Katrina would take.  Well, Katrina did go there, but the worst of it was over before it hit Ohio.  There was at least one tornado near them, but it did not cause any problems for them.  All is well on the old homestead.  Thanks for your caring.  Now....I need to start getting things together for Salvation Army and Red Cross.  KBHBLY.....& lots of light, too.....lily jo

Hi, jo! That's a relief! We feel so frightened and helpless when our loved ones lie in the path of destruction!

btw I knew you would be one to lend a helping hand! You have such a loving heart.

I love you, girlfriend!

Linda, I'm hanging in there and can't complain when I watch what's going on down South.

The dark side has been released.

Love ya, Marti

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, this is a most touching write that I bet was most difficult to write, dearest friend! (wipes tear) It truly was natures holocaust, and I remember what one reporter said, who summed it up perfectly; "It looks like a Third World country down there!" (sad sigh) God Bless You, dearest friend, may we all continue to pray for them all and offer angel healing and guidance hugs to the families down there, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Marti ~

I, like yourself, gain a new perspective of the trials and tribulations in my own life when I consider what others are going through right now!

~ but I know that you do have a lot on your own plate and I'm glad that you are at least hanging in there.
