It came, looking for trouble-
And found it!-  ugly, drunken beast
Mindset on wallowing
Over swamps and rivers-
Houses-other short rimmed vessels;

Nothing could stop its intention,
For all were too weak,
When measured against its brute strength...

Demanding that shores erase,
River banks, and swamp-bounds-
Earth defines, of ponds and lakes;

Ordering them, become one sea
Turning houses into shot glasses
(Eve-troughs as ounce-lines)
Overflowing, like what makes
A drunk-drunk  smile...
Pouring watered down whiskey
Over all  with glee-
Roaring out commands
With intoxicated voice.
*
Morning after- skies clearing-
Water retracing missteps-
Rushing out windows
Back into basins, the monster
Has moved on to other places-

Weaker now
As are people left, living-
Emerging, shaking fists
Above sad glances,
At the leavings of the beast.

very apt decriptions of the power and the powerless beneath her and just sending good thoughts to all that had to endure this

Ford, it has been a beast...and it has left its jaw-marks on the whole nation.  The effects, I believe, are not nearly over.  So many lives changed, forever.... ....jo

~ Vividly descriptive writing of the she-beast and of the devastation that she caused.

You wrote equally well of the aftermath.

(big angel hugs) Oh Ford, this is a most poignant description of this natural disaster and all the emotions that have came and have been left with it, dearest friend! (wipes tear) God Bless You, dearest friend, may we continue to pray for the dearest families, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ford, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
