In the space between moments

0 posted 2005-12-19 02:55 AM

*This is inspired by and dedicated to Shelby O'Rourke, a very close and special friend of mine.

Soft shadows nestle
on fringes of lamplight,
the darkness kept at bay
by a shimmered expanse of snow
and your playful smile.

Laughter chimes
through crisp winter air
as we tumble with abandon
in silver-white showers.

Winded and flushed,
motion stills
and we lift our eyes upward…

The moon, our luminary,
shines encircled by a hazy ring
of celestial light—
a vision that binds us to the heavens
and each other.

The moments elongate
as we gaze at the glimmer
of Luna edged in foggy glow…

And our friendship deepens
with every breath drawn
in reverence
of the wonders we’ve found
above us
and between us.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Dark Angel--I pop in when I can and my poetry writing is starting to flow again, so you may see me around even more.

Krista~
Well ... this afternoon I left a reply on this that apparently got gobbled up by the gobble-up monster~

Now ... to say again ...

Talk the moon ... you've got my attention~

I'd say that Shelly is very fortunate to enjoy the poetic moon rings you've woven~

Merry Christmas~

Lovely poem but especially this -

"And our friendship deepens
with every breath drawn
in reverence
of the wonders we’ve found
above us
and between us."

Thank you everyone, I truly appreciate it!  This was actually a real moment between us...we were out playing in the snow together (yes, 20 somethings playing in the snow...but it was fun) and we looked up at the sky and saw the moon circled in a spectacular hazy ring.  It was an unbelievable moment--and I'm glad to share it with all of you.
