Oh, but for youth’s innocence and instincts
Would there be any tint to dye,
Or fragrance to waft away my day?
Two tiny, tender shoots once seeded in love
Grow in the shadow of that loves very light.
Each so wide-eyed, grazing on little trust.
Hesitating not to offer me, yes me,
A tiny heart and hand for its safekeeping.
Oh, how much wiser I have become
Because of two little tenders planted.
I watch them weave and wend,
Sprinting on nimble, quick minds, and legs.
Life’s endurance tests pose no obstacles.
In fact, they grow even stronger stems.
As they run through each savannah,
Mountain trail, or washed up wave
Like there was no tomorrow,
I watch , listen, and learn to live again.

For my two ladies, who teach me something new every day.
They definitely are two hoots!

"A tiny heart and hand for its safekeeping"

I am blessed to know this first hand.  My tiny one is my heart.

  A touching tribute Sharon.

Susan ~ Wow, I wish I had said that!  I feel it too, they are "my heart!"  I was telling my son only last week, it is the strangest feeling that you can't describe when you look at them, like a part of you is melting inside right?     They are gifts that is for sure.

Where's your poem Gramma, Serenity wants all of us writing.   You have one I know you do.

Exactly.

Karen told me when the wee one was born to tell my daughter she was no longer the princess (or words to that effect) and she couldn't have been more right....

My Autumn is the light and color of my world.

  I adore being a Grandma

Sharon, you are one mighty fine gardener ~ and poetess!

Your well-tended garden has produced two glorious sun-filled flowers!

Spent the evening with three of my six...and it was for Miss Emily's second birthday...already!  I think we're watering and feeding them too well, Mysteria...they're growing too fast!

and so are your two little sunflower blooms.

Thanks ladies We truly are blessed with a return of youth to our lives, as we get to run, laugh, and play all over again, and not one person yet has said, "Hey, there goes a crazy woman!"  I am loving this and my second childhood to bits.

Some day dear lady, some day. Until then I'll just live through you.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

right here, Sharon:

Oh, how much wiser I have become

Oh yes, how they teach you.
I love this and you for doing it.
They are going to kill you when they are 20.

My granddaughter teaches me much as we take piano lessons together.  Mostly it is patience!!

Your loving tribute to them is most beautiful.  Ken

Hiya Sharon!!  Yanno, Daryl spent the better part of the last two weeks here with me and I've got to agree, viewing the world through the perspective of a kid keeps you young.  And it makes a lot of otherwise mundane chores (such as weed-whacking around the garden) much more enjoyable when you're pretending that there are tiny aliens hiding amongst the tomatoes...

I thank you all for finding me on this swiftly moving board.  Kids are truly a gift we get later in life because we need them to keep us young for sure.

A wee word to Duncan if I may?

You don't have to tell me about regression and fun you!  I am the troll under the bridge at the playground for not only my two, but the entire park!  I hide on them and jump out from the bushes, or pretend to grab a leg running across the bridge, and I am not sure if they have more fun or me?

In otherwords Duncan the main message from kids is that we have forgotten to play, and I think that is why they exist?  I am really so glad you had a good weed whacking session with Daryl (hope the tomatoes survived.)  It does two men good to play, and I have killed a few aliens myself in my time!
