the same old yellow paint sun
stirred to black ink simmer
by the hands of the eyes
when they are wearing dreams

you went to be with god
said you didn't need my protection
was a good thing I guess
but I do miss your sins

and how they lingered there
on the windows some mornings
like the perfume of you
sulpher and nail polish roses

you turned the heads around
down melrose in the afternoons
before you went undergrounding
to hear the metal people pray

from their green paper rosaries
