On the lonely road to happiness
run leprechauns and ghouls
and these creatures numbered many
unstructured in their quest
stray in and out of magic
like a woman still in love
dreams and then awakes.

In and out and round about
from here to there somewhere
letting go and grabbing hold;
are they growing old?

Another step towards the goal
and, lo, the mother moans,
“Is it my fault you’re so slow?”

Hands on hips she waits
but no sign of life
from the ghoul of denial
testing mettle in the bramble
along the wayside.

Leprechauns and ghouls –
ah-ha, a mother knows
a ghoul is only soul
and a leprechaun the casing
called here flesh and bone
growing old on the road
to promised happiness.

In and out of magic
and there is no release
for the tears a mother weeps
on the other side!

I think I understand the other side you write of.
They seem so lost to me, and yes, I try so hard to hold back my tears,
but often I still weep.  So good to read your writing, Helen dear~

Wow, Bluesy!  I don't beieve it - I was just thinking of you this morning and wondering as to your welfare and the welfare of your muse.  I do hope you are well.  Thanks for the read.  I'm not too sure what this one is about myself but I trust my instincts.

Me too, Jo, for that second read, that is, because I'm not the mother I speak of.  My sons aren't "slow" - I sometimes wish they were though then I can catch up with them.

~ This read well and I enjoyed the images and feelings I received by reading it.

"If this grand panaorama before me is what you call God... then God is not dead."
