In this hand, happiness held
Bold and sunny bright
In this hand, sadness held
Opening only at night

Why is the heart not able
To bear both worlds apace
When the heart is content
Why does gloom enter the race?

Just once it would be nice
Perfection in feeling good
Without the underlying threat
Of darkness misunderstood

Don’t offer up sympathy
Empty coffers I have galore
Don’t promise brighter tomorrow’s
I really don’t care any more.

Well now that is a feeling that sure sucks!  I won't offer an empty coffer, but I will lend a shoulder to a weary soul.     Nice to see you posting - wow, two of my favorite strangers posting in one day, I am SO excited.

T'was a good, gloomy goody though.

It's a whole lot easier not to have a care, and so it goes~
Always a pleasure to read your poetry, PDV~

perfection is alive within the eyes of the beholder, and darkness misunderstood can be a door which needs to be opened..

enjoyed.

Thank you all for your kind comments. As you know I usually do not write about my personal life or emotions. But this poem came about because a month ago my lovely daughter gave birth to two handsome twin sons. In the last two weeks, two of her friends suffered miscarriages. So there is happiness and sadness in our hearts now. Thank you for reading!

Guess you have to clap those hands together
and hope the end result is tolerable

I've missed reading you, lady divine.
