black as the moonless night
silent in dreamless sleep
I rise my sleepy head
my hunger makes me weep
drawn to here from unknown
a place frequently lost
my weatheredly scaled skin
defeating nights cold frost
I bathe in burning stars
I pillage, I plunder
thy fathers heritage
puts me six feet under ...
I, Onyx, the dragon
must face even my fears
the forgotten hunger
hidden all these years ...
such, is the light of day
and visions of true love
both make me run and hide
soaring the heavens above
but time now grows weary
from lies of distant past
this dragonhearted lore
may never really last ...
before stars find sleep
and my eyes face the dawn
I hope to share my dreams ...
before I must be gone

"I, Onyx, the dragon
must face even my fears
the forgotten hunger
hidden all these years ..."

and a sleeping dragon awakens.

I loved the metaphor and mystical quality here, and in fact, it reminded me a bit of a favorite quote:

"Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup."

(cute, huh?)

Onyx is used quite often as a scrying mirror (as well as a metaphor for death too--that whole tombstone thang) so nod, I took the metaphor and ran with it, and enjoyed the jog.

Nice write ct.

the image of the Dragon in the pic is dreamy .... a stir of clouds and light, night and day.
Some say dragons were just imagination ...
but isn't that our dreams as well?

Thank you all for your read, and sharing my dreams!
