Lost are my eyes
no place of peace
is there to be found
no comforting outlook
on which to rest.

Exposed to wander
from one memory
to another gathering tears
between that which was
never made right
and all that can now
never be.

it is not much of an offering from my muse, but it is all I am allowed thus far after my father's death this weekend.
I have not seen him in about 25 years...sigh, I had planned a trip now because of his illness but did not make it before he died.
thank you for the hugs

JB, I'm sorry you didn't make it, but things are meant to be. I wouldn't go see my father for any reason and he's here in town. Maybe I'll regret that when he's gone, but I really doubt it.

Oh, my friend... if I could take those gathering tears from you, I would. I wish you'd had that chance for him to know just how special his daughter is.

beautifully written...

I had the trip planned to see my ill father  before he died 7 years ago and I too, missed by a day, although my family was and always has been close. Still the fact that I could not say good bye to him before the end  hurt me and delayed my progress by a year...
Don't let that happen, jb...know that in his heart he knew you cared

Your heart cries out in  this.  I'm sorry for your loss and that you were unable to see him prior to his departure.  Oft times I think, sure if I knew one of my gown children or grandchildren would die tomorrow, I'd spend today with them.  However, there's reason we don't know and we just do our best day by day.  We have to accept that.  God bless you.
