Tight strings of no release
strum a mournful tune
when anchored at both ends
to steel emotionless.

No slack at the back
for dreams not meant to be,
at the front hope misses
the line of love’s true feel,
and the instrument of passion
no beauty queen
on this stage of make believe.

The touch and stroke of hands
tenses nerve ends into screams
and the off-key melody
echoes painfully
till death a fait accompli.

Such the way of human play
too scared to touch on soul
and tease into the atmosphere
the music meant to ease
beauty queens into being
instruments of love!

ahhh Helen, how I truly relate to this.  Woman, like guitar (or strings) should never be left out of tune.
