Listening to every heart

0 posted 2005-08-21 12:54 PM

They Are Gone

it has been said he left,
as did she
and they might have
taken a slight
sabbatical for
a little while

but they left their soft smiles

I know

because I've been
to the archives
which can, in itself,
this word
"archive"
be a lovely word
or a dank word
depending on
what is in
its hold

and what it is holding

but these archives
are delicious and
nutritious and
sustaining of
all that I
seek

their smiles…and everything else they left behind

so do not chide me
nor deride me
for the time
I spend in
here,
letting it
all sink in
again and again
their words of passion

of heartbreak and surcease,
of love and light
of misery and hope
of misguided thoughts and
wars well won
and wars duly lost
of spirits and spiritual love
of planes and substances untouchable
but all of which are left readable

their words sustain my soul
and the tiniest, most miniscule
thoughts were planted in my brain
because of their words which someone
did not leave unheard
but rather, read and enjoyed,
even if only by One…

that One person captured a piece
of the writer, the poet, the author

that One person went away
or stayed
because of that
writer, poet, author

and forevermore shall remember
or if not actually remember, still,
will have been touched,
just once
by the Passion of the
Person, Poet, Painter of Promise.

so on this very holy day
a day of rest
a morning come early
with soft electrical
candle's light
and if fortunate, then
on into the night
I shall visit and
reacquaint myself with
friends who are on
sabbatical, but
visit them I shall

in the archives.

I've been spending a bit of time in the archives myself, lately. I don't often give a response there, but I read there...as much as I read in Open. You're right, it gives a feel for what is past, but not passed.

Sunshine, this is so true. I like to read in there.
Like Ed, I rarely post there, but maybe I should......
we never know when someone who has gone may
come back to visit in the archives.

Ethel

I've just been in there myself, moreso than in here lately, looking at us all running around here giggling.

It made me smile, as did this.

I, too, have taken a few trips into the Archives, just to feel the presence of a few friends I have met here, and miss...they may be gone, but their words and thoughts live on forever for those of us who want to remember...wonderful write, my Sun-sis...~S~

There is no other way to hold them,
But gently in the hands of our hearts..

Love is this poem

Nicely done Karilea,
I'm glad it's back as I missed it before. Wasn't at all what I expected but pleased me just as much.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I'm always amazed at the treasures I find in the archives... visiting old favorites, finding words to relish I'd missed first time around. *S*

They did not die they merely slept
There words echo
As if a different person wrote at that time
Claiming thoughts they felt were thine
To illuminate in colours bold
Or sensitive in growing old

Words we want to forget
Yes learn the were best

and we regret

We ran away from thoughts and words and deeds

That told the world

Of our needs

~ A feeling of melancholy while writing? The verse above was my favorite. this was and enjoyabel... I'll call it tribute, to read.
