Bookstore Blues

It's one of the things
I pretend not to know;
this one more personal
and I fail more personally.
Must I slip down this aisle of words,
to feel myself absorbing them;
or is it that words come here because
they're being sucked out of me?
Worse, are they sick of me,
trying to inveigle themselves
into the perfect camouflage
of some stranger's book,
where I'll finally leave them alone?
More likely it is both,
especially the draw:
most of these books do suck,
something I feel the instant I open one,
others so dry even a lover
couldn't split their pages,
but there is the disguise as well;
most are only blinds, hiding places
for other people's words,
maybe mine, even some I need,
and I won't finish this
until I find them.

This makes me want to take a little trip to a book store.  Love the way you wrote these feelings...so understood!

The only blues I could have after reading this is that your book isn't yet on those shelves... for then, I'd have the perfect purchase, knowing that not a line would suck! *G*

From laughter to longing, you take us on a rollercoaster of emotions... and leave us nodding with the knowing. *S* This is fantastic!!
