MY SHADOW

It follows way behind me, when I face the coming day
But then it walks in front a while to guide and show the way
It turns with every action and mimics all I do
A part of me on sun bright days when clouds allow it through

At times it really seems so large, that I feel dwarfed compared
But when it’s dull it seems to hide as if afraid and scared
It flirts with light; dimensions; the time of day, our space
Shading while in resting place, to leave then without trace

My shadow is not just the trace of me that sun does make
My shadow is my friend, my rock, a strength I’ll not forsake
But it is only seen by some when light of ray displays
My shadow lives the life of change, to show on brighter days

My shadow is the hidden me that rarely people see
That comes out just so often so to taste a little free
It is my souls extension that does visit time to time
Hidden or exposed to world, a part that’s always mine

There’s sunshine deep within me where my shadow goes to walk
Places that are warm and bright where we find time to talk
Cast by rays of wishes and imaginations touch
Shadows; little parts of us, reveal some truth as such

Dear Dixie, lovely to see you again my friend, I have many more poems, but many do seem too sad to share, thank you for sharing a little of your company here, very much enjoyed and appreciated.

Sincerely
Rick

Rick, I am putting this gem into my library. Wonderful. If you read my signature line you will know why. hugs, Chris
