Quandary

To be sane in a world full of madness,
set adrift on a sea of sand,
to stand tall in a desolate forest,
to hear the applause from one hand,
to chose my own path up the mountain,
to weather life’s storm as a tree,
to worship the one god, whoever,
he or she turns out to be,
to offer my cheek in forgiveness,
to dispel that cloud in my eye,
to understand ripples in water,
to be one with the earth and the sky,
to soar with the hawk over cornfields,
following nature’s decree,
or perhaps it’s enough, in one lifetime,
to simply learn how to be me.

Sometimes, m'friend...
it's enough to just learn
to be.
