It is this distance, this separation
not measured in miles
but rather
in heart places

that confines me
from bonding
closer to you

because I can't understand
the things that you do;

like how you pulled me close
just to turn me away
without as much as a
single notion of understanding

yet I,
never made
one single demand....

my joy stemmed
from the mere
knowing of you
but you were afraid
of the light
so you left me

alone and blue

and I can't help but wonder
now that I'm here, and your there
if you ever gave a damn
or really even cared.

yesterday is gone
tomorrow doesn't exist

to answer your question, I don't believe they knew any better, and gave the best part of themselves, all they had and known, but it just wasn't us, dear lady, what we wanted and needed...was more? You see, you cannot give what you've never known....

this poem was so softly understanding....

I understand perfectly where you are writing from and I have to agree with LeeJ...somethings we will never know and I don't think they know the answer themselves...the person you write about has no idea the treasure they lost in having your love...Be happy, dear lady...there are many who love you very much....*big hugs*

Donna, like the others, I would like to believe
the person really didn't know any better. Some
are just too insensitive to others needs. I had
rather believe that than to think they just don't
give a hoot. LOL  I guess I'm giving them the
shadow of a doubt. LOL

This was a very beuatiful poem, my friend, full
of heart.
Hugs,
Ethel

Uh! this surely hits home for me.

"and I can't help but wonder
now that I'm here, and your there
if you ever gave a damn
or really even cared."

Well written.
