Where no tyranny is tolerable

Eight Days

(actually there are many blind students in college, nevertheless)
It is just eight days
before the first day of my classes.
Today we went downtown,
caught the busses, rode the rails,
Found the building, found the rooms
and them came back.
It sure Feels funny
walking the halls of academe
Funny, after fifteen years,
and for the first time
since I did it down in Texas.
Because I've now gotten so fat
so out of shape I am afraid to say it,
I found the trip down there and back
to be very grueling and tiring.
I kept having to stop and stop and stop
for rest and water.
This is but the first
of what will be
many days like this;
Walking and pounding through the urban wilderness of central Denver,
(with Trina who is a (cane travel) instructor)
chasing the busses,
riding the rails,
finding the way.
After enough days like these,
plus the "wimpy" veggie diet I am living on,
I hope to start losing, with time,
quite a lot of weight ...
but this will take a lot of patients
(this typo was for Earth Angel,
who I'm sure loves all her patience!)
And Midnitesun is always here in spirit
lighting the way,
and helping me have fun with wimpy vegetables.
Ever touched a dream with your bare hands?
Ever beheld the world
through the eyes of the heart?
Sorry if this seems
like a rather clumsy write.

always a fresh new beginning!  Enjoy those college days!  I identify with those hills where we trudged, sweat, and trudged some more!  Enjoy Fall Quarter.

A clumsy write? not in the least! And you have every right to be grinning proudly for getting to this point, amigo. And that rail travel is no piece of cake, as it gets really crowded, and some of those students from CCD get pushy when they are in a hurry. ~sigh~ this is a major adventure, SC, but no more so than the thousand others you've already been through.  Your nutritional guidelines will arrive later via email. LOL

Jaime, I really enjoyed reading this.
And I wish you luck in going back to college.
Hugs,
Ethel
