Listening

I listened to some music play
The sound I heard seemed far away
Echoed in a distant hallow
Nectar that I could not swallow

I tried to walk a closer bide
The lovely tones of it’s confide
Bent my head to catch its spread
But no more sound would touch my head

Sorrow caused my heart to sigh
Some beauties now would pass me by
There was a time things seemed to blare
And youth in me seemed not to care

But added weight upon the scale
Has turned my thoughts to wail the fail
And I’m more conscious of the loss
The feel and weal of natures force

And softer is my footstep tread
As acid eats away my thread

When I saw the title, I thought of an evening spent listening to you talk... and how precious those memories are. *S*

I like this melancholy write very much, my friend. *S*

Ohhhhh...man.  Aging?  I'm reminded of Jimmy Buffet here - I'm growing older, not up.  Something like that.

I seem a bit heavier in my tread
But thoughts of me stuck in my head
Tell me I'm youthful - still unchanged -
'Til my reflection shows up again.

I like reading your stuff - musical - insightful - humor brought to daily life.

Thank you!

Seymour, my pal, I'm understanding this more and more every year.
"They" say we're not getting older, just better....
but it sure feels like I'm getting older. LOL

Loved your poem as I always do, dear Sir Poet.
Can I have a kiss on the cheek, too? Here's you a few.....

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Know what you mean, Sy, my hearing isn't as good as it used to be.  But there is this other music -- the song of your soul -- and that, I believe you hear perfectly!  Happy New Year!   ....jo
