Virtual Journal
By Larry Chadwick

Time, that commodity which heals,
Seems only to come in abundance – after you are gone.
And yet when I ponder…
I find a collection of events
That are full of you.
So it’s hard to curse the calendar,
That somehow has saved memories of you.

Thank goodness diaries are not required,
Or my recollections would be as empty as my journal.
Besides, then I don’t have to be sitting
on my bed to conger up thoughts of you.
Rather clever to find you a thought away.
August 11, 2005

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

This hit home for me, Larry:

Time, that commodity that heals,
Seems only to come in abundance – after you are gone.

because while life is "happening" you never stop to see.
It is as if exactly as you say, after they are gone.
Then you find your mind wandering the universe . . .

I am also in that frame of mind right now, and it is nice to know though we can "think them up" when we need them

sigh...you could fill your journals with these words....its a start, and I am sure more will follow....I understand the ache ...but there is the hope of  light in healing....

In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
You dance inside my chest where
no one sees you and that sight becomes this art

Larry, your words are sure to have a profound effect on anyone who reads them. For almost all of us have lost someone we loved.

When I read your poem, I heard your soul softly speaking.

Loving hugs,
Linda
P.S. From your new pic, I can see that you're not getting older! ~ You're getting younger! I'll take a case of whatever it is that you're drinking!

smiling at you for that line...
love the tender discoveries of this sharing.
how clever you are indeed.

I'll bare the brunt of your long buried pain
I don't mind helping you out ...
But I want you to remember my name

And this conjures up
many wonderful recollections

And sweet to think of you in the same manner. Thank you.

Wandering the universe and still bumping into those that matter most. I think I like that. Thanks.

Becka,
Dear girl, ya' know how to make an old man smile.

Lauren,
Yes mam, there's always hope. And these blue pages are as close as I get to a journal. Thank you sweetie.

Larry, those "just a thought away" times are so precious,
aren't they? and, yes, they are always right there
close to the surface.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us again, Larry.
Hugs,
Ethel
