One would expect giants to be raucous
with stomping feet and booming voices.
Most certainly one does not suppose them to be stealthy,
for it is beyond me how such a large disturbance
can suddenly appear out of nowhere
challenging harmony at a moment’s notice
…though I tend to think that watching too much TV
is partly to blame.

Giants do not, no, make that cannot,
live at peace, not with us, not with each other;
I have found that disruption is in their nature.
So what ever you do, do not attempt to befriend one
can you imagine a giant at the dinner table,
their appetite is absolutly incredible.

And be sure that they are all liars; they might put on
different names, but really they are all related.
Contention with a giant will undoubtedly end in destruction
and death….yes I need to warn you that giants feed
on death.

Luckily I lived to tell you that mine
dragged me around by the nape for far too long,
and with me putting up so little resistance
that I’ve no idea why he did not
just eat me.

I was jarred and jabbed at his whim, until that is
the day I faced him and found
there was more than one on my side,
there was One higher than I that stood with me.
I am happy to report that giants have one major weakness
they don’t like to be confronted by someone
bigger.

You go girl! I'm jumping up and down! Yessiree! The Higher One can slay all those giants that are contentious, destructive and jar and jab us at their whim!

A fine piece of writing. You should be proud of this poem and of yourself!

I guess the giant could relate to an abusive spouse, or alcoholism, or drug addiction, etc... This, to me, was quite interesting to read. It really captured my attention, fully.

This is wonderful and you're right - bullies don't like being confronted by real strength.

JellyGal~
I have known this 'goliath' a time or two in my life ... and yes, there is always One bigger that directs the turn of events in my favor~

I want you to know that I really love this piece~

I like the whimsy with which you wrote such powerful truth. *S* This is beautiful, my friend... as are you!

I would wish to reply to each of you individually but...sigh...work steals me away and I have a minute here and there to play, thank you all.....and here goes, sunshine, spunk?...lol...maybe, but its easy to be spunky when you got backup...and suthern, whimsy glad you liked, these days whimsy doesn't come easy...and marge at our age, if we haven't faced a few giants, well then we probably haven't lived...sigh...
thank you all....its been a long time since my muse had something to say...
