Chrysanthemums, free floating
In a Fuji crisp morning air

I breathe in Kitaro’s high notes
The bells, the birds, the drumbeats,
Letting the notes cascade over my limbs,
Settle into the crevices and folds of me
Taking me on a journey to the open sea
Where I can see beyond my self-limiting horizons

And as I bow my head and heart to the ancients,
I feel today’s souls immerse themselves within
And begin reaching outward to a future generation,
Offering the sacred vows of peace, goodwill to all

And as the notes float high upon the clouds above
I see a white dove fly by with an olive branch
carried into the boldest bluest sky
and I cry,  for the hope of it,
for the dream of Peace I feel is real,
wrapped up in all the spirits that surround me

And then a brilliant rainbow bursts open…
lets go a thousand Sadako cranes in flight,
each shining a bright beam of light upon the Earth.

And in the feel of the heartbeat, the drum of life’s echo,
I believe that Peace is a possibility.

Kacy, I'm a big fan of Kitaro's music ~ and a big fan of your poetry as well!!!

You'd have done him proud if he were to read this illustrious poem!

Martyjo, thank you, for the humbling comment. His music really is ethereal, and his plans for the bells of peace...well, I am in awe of his dedication.
Linda, I am not at all surprised that you are a Kitaro fan.

I'm another with no knowledge of this man.  I found him very soothing to listen to, but also with a tension that seems to pull the listener in.
It is always good to read your writing, music-related or not.  KJ
